New Windows 10 Mobile Build Will Support Majority Of Lumia Phones
The first Windows 10 Technical Preview, announced on February 12th this year only supported a handful of Lumia devices, leading many users to believe that they would be left behind.
A second test build of Windows 10 Mobile adds support for a feature called partition stitching, allowing the upgrade to a larger set of phones, said Microsoft's Windows Insider program, Gabe Aul, in a blog post on March 27.
Aul hasn't mentioned a release date, but has tentatively given a deadline of a week. "I cannot guarantee a date for a new build. What I CAN tell you is that we feel great here about the partition stitching code and current builds, but we likely still have at least one more week of engineering to do to ensure we get a great build for the expanded list of devices." he wrote.
36 Lumia phones, including flagship devices like the Lumia 1020 and Lumia 1520 have been mentioned in the preliminary list — with the only notable omission being the Lumia 930. Here’s the full list, which comes with a disclaimer that some devices may be pulled from the list if they encounter bugs.
